Airfal adapts its TR2 for high temperatures and doubles its power.

Airfal International S.L. manufactures a new version of its model of waterproof TR2 and gives it more power also allowing their installation in spaces with temperatures that can reach 80°. To the demand of customers and the evolution of the market itself, the Aragones company has created a new TR2 doubling its power and that can be installed in areas with very high temperatures.

The TR2 is a watertight luminaire with protection against impacts level 10 (IK10) and against the penetration of water and dust level 68 (IP68) and a 5mm thick methacrylate body. This luminaire joins watertightness, robustness and design, and makes it ideal for use in industrial kitchens. While there was already a model to operate in areas with temperatures up to 80 ° C, the options were limited to 1 58W tube models, and Airfal wanted this fixture to be able to illuminate these areas up to 80 ° C with 2x36 and 2x58W powers.

The technical department and the laboratory faced this new challenge with several problems. Due to the high temperature that reaches the luminaire, this TR2 could only incorporate an electromagnetic equipment because the electronic one couldn´t withstand that heat. Also, couldn´t either go with two fluorescent tubes because the tubes also exceeded the temperature of the electromagnetic equipment and melted even the body of the luminaire.

After several studies and laboratory tests, they could install two fluorescent tubes to double its power and incorporated an electronic equipment. For this solution, the fluorescent tubes and equipment were separated in two parts. This way we obtained a single luminaire with two bodies joined by a cable.

The first of the bodies contains two fluorescent tubes, which doubles the light power, and attached to it by a heat proof cable, a second body in which the fixture equipment is located. This division of the luminaire allows to install fluorescent tubes inside the industrial hood and put out the same electronic special equipment for aggressive environments. So the equipment would not be subjected to such high temperatures and would illuminate the heating area without the risk of overheating.
