A New, Portable Bench Scale Handles Both Precise And High-Capacity Weighing

A&D is pleased to announce the launch of their SA series of portable bench scales. These scales have a large weighing pan (330 mm x 330 mm) and are low in profile (approx. 73 mm). They have also a large handle on the side. Therefore, users can easily take the scale wherever and whenever it is necessary to measure a weight, while storing it between furniture or by propping it against a wall when it is not in use. The scale is also suitable to take aboard a vehicle so as to perform weighing at various distant locations.

On top of that, perhaps the most notable feature of the SA series is that it is capable of both precise and high-capacity weighing. For weights up to 3 kg (or 3000 g if the gram unit is chosen), it can measure with a readability of 0.001 kg (or 1 g). When the weight exceeds 3 kg (not including tare, such as the weight of a container, etc.), the readability switches to 0.01 kg but measurement can be done up to 30 kg, 60 kg or 150 kg, depending on the capacity of the model. In other words, it suffices to have only one unit of the SA series to perform just about any kind of measurement normally required in the home, office, or even out in the field. Further, if users prefer, the readability can be fixed to 0.01 kg or 0.1 kg for the entire measurement range (i.e. from zero to the capacity).

The SA series is equipped with an automatic zero setting mode, in which the scale automatically performs tare and sets the display to zero once the weight value becomes stable (or stays within the set range for 2 seconds). This is useful, for instance, when taring the user's own body weight before measuring the weight of an animal by holding it (the user doesn't have to crouch down to press the key to tare).

The LCD display (24 mm character height) of the SA series has a white backlight that is clearly visible even in a dimly-lit area. Moreover, the display is 180-degree reversible. That is, the display content can be rotated by 180 degrees so that users can read the weighing results from the direction that suits their use.

The SA series comes standard with an AC adapter. It can also be operated on four D batteries (for approx. 700 hours with alkaline batteries, backlight OFF) for portability and use in the field without AC power. To avoid wasting power, the display switches off automatically when the scale is inactive for a set period of time. With the optional RS-232C interface, weighing data can be output to a PC, printer or other peripheral devices.
