On February 18, 2005, the National Development and Reform Commission of China officially approved Shougang's relocation, structural adjustment and environmental control solution, and agreed that Shougang will build a modern large-scale steel enterprise in Caofeidian, Tangshan, Hebei Province (abbreviated as "Shougang Jingtang Company"). Shougang's overall technological equipment has reached the world first-class level for 21st century, and has become a production base for high-quality international advanced level sheet metal and an innovation-oriented exemplary factory. Its high efficiency and low-cost production/operation system is composed of 5500m3 blast furnace, 300 ton converter, 2250mm hot rolling and 2230mm cold rolling.

Application Overview

The project of Shougang Base is a renovation project, which aims to realize real-time tracking of the position of molten steel/iron containers by an integrated management system in the steel plant. Based on the molten steel/iron containers, the system can integrate the material flow data in the steelmaking plant and improve production organization and fine management level. To exactly track the location of molten iron/steel containers, and facilitate real-time management and control, the steel plant has installed Darveen Vehicle Mount Computer VT-858 and card readers on the cranes for scheduling, as well as RFID tags along the way, so that the molten steel containers can be located precisely when they are moving around in the plant, the route of cranes easily managed, and the production efficiency improved.
