New takeaway food packaging is being tested by McDonald’s Hungary to see if it improves consumer convenience and reduces spillage.
The BagTray was developed by McDonald’s Hungary and advertising agency DDB Budapest in a bid to find a solution that could act as both a food carrier and a tray.
At first glance, it looks much like the standard large paper bag given to customers by McDonald’s staff around the world. The new bag, however, contains a built-in cardboard tray.
At their destination, customers can remove the top of the bag with one simple tearing movement, leaving their food sitting on a tray, which has room for a burger, fries and a drink. The idea is to make eating in the car, park or office more convenient, and to reduce spillage during transport or during the meal.
