TOP 100 success: Dr. Fritz Faulhaber is one of the leading innovators of 2018

Dr. Fritz Faulhaber has made it into the ranks of this innovation elite for the third time.

For the 25th time, TOP 100 will be selecting the most innovative of Germany's small and medium-sized enterprises. This year, these leading innovators include Dr. Fritz Faulhaber GmbH & Co. KG. This was according to the analysis conducted by the scientific director of TOP 100, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke. On 29. June 2018 in Ludwigsburg, mentor of TOP 100, Ranga Yogeshwar, together with Franke and compamedia will honour the company from Schönaich at the award ceremony as part of the 5th German summit for small and medium-sized enterprises. Dr. Fritz Faulhaber has made it into the ranks of this innovation elite for the third time. In this independent selection procedure, the company with 646 employees impressed the competition jury particularly in the category "Innovation success".

Film cameras, insulin pumps or tattooing devices – today, drive systems from Dr. Fritz Faulhaber GmbH & Co. KG from Schönaich can be found everywhere. For 70 years now, the owner-operated family company with 646 employees has been developing and selling micromotors and is one of the world's leading providers of its sector.

The inventiveness of this Swabian firm is particularly evident in the development of special, customer-specific solutions. For a new type of prosthetic hand, for example, the top innovator designed and constructed a micromotor weighing just eleven grams for each individual finger. With these lightweight and easy-to-handle devices, the medium-sized company is also conquering the beauty market: tattoo artists and beauticians benefit from the precision of the devices.

Solutions from Fritz Faulhaber are also used in industrial automation. For example, the top innovator provides its customers with new kinds of Motion Controllers which help to control the position, speed and acceleration of motors. Its huge range of products means that the three times TOP 100 company can offer intelligent, high-performance drive systems for almost all applications.

TOP 100: The competition

Since 1993, compamedia has awarded the TOP 100 seal to small and medium-sized companies for outstanding innovativeness and exceptional innovation success. Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke has been the scientific director of TOP 100 since 2002. Franke is the founder and chairman of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The mentor of TOP 100 is the science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar. Project partners are the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research and the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW).
