New metal core drills from FEIN

Powerful and universal power tools for efficient drilling in metal

Core drilling in metal:

FEIN’s KBM range of core drills, which has been successfully marketed since 1984, includes a wide range of tools in four performance classes for metal processing companies. With product innovations and an extensive range of accessories, FEIN supplies solutions tailored to specific applications and is now expanding its market-leading position in the core drill segment. The internationally successful and long-established company is based in Schwäbisch Gmünd-Bargau, Germany. FEIN power tools are renowned for their high quality, high load handling, long lifetime and precision, which make them suitable for tough continuous use in manual trades and industry.

Universal magnetic core drills: FEIN KBU 35:

In the new KBU 35 series, FEIN brings together three universal magnetic core drills for diameters of up to 35 mm. They are powerful yet compact. These high-quality power tools are very flexible, as they are suitable for core drilling, twist drilling, tapping, countersinking and reaming.

Thanks to a 1100 W high-power motor with tacho electronics, the powerful magnetic core drills with clockwise/anti-clockwise rotation deliver high performance and stable speeds. With a compact size and weighing just 10.6 kg to 11 kg, they are also suitable for working on assembled metal structures on the construction site, especially difficult-to-reach spots and overhead. The large stroke range of 260 mm is unique in this class. The double drill motor guide allows even large drilling tools to be used. A patented, swivel-mounted motor cable protection hose prevents the cable from snagging or getting caught on the workpiece. A second magnetic switch integrated in the drill jig allows the machine to be easily aligned. If the machine tilts or slides, the change of position is detected by a tilt sensor which stops the drill spindle immediately for added safety. On top of the machine is a large, intuitive control panel in the user's direct field of view. The core drill bit can be changed quickly and without the need for tools.

The new FEIN KBU 35 Q is positioned as a small universal magnetic core drill for flexible working in the workshop and on site. Two more KBU 35 models also feature in the FEIN range. With two mechanical gears and speeds of up to 1600 rpm, the FEIN KBU 35-2 Q is also designed for efficient twist drilling. The three-coil magnet offers very good hold even on sheets and profiles just 8 mm thick. The KBU 35 MQ is equipped with an MT2 tool mounting and is also compatible with typical tools such as twist drills, countersinks, counterbores, reamers and tapping chucks.

Customers can test the capabilities and versatility of the FEIN KBU 35 range for themselves – and between 1 September 2016 and 31 March 2017, they will benefit from a reduced price at the same time. When you buy a FEIN magnetic core drill from the KBU 35 series at a demonstration, you will receive three core drill bits for free. For more information visit: https://www.fein.com.

Hand-guided metal core drilling systems: FEIN KBH 25

Hand-guided core drilling in metal places high demands on a power tool. Back in 2011, FEIN established the first hand-guided core drilling system for diameters of up to 25 mm in steel on the market. It combines a powerful handheld drill with special carbide core drill bits and makes the job of professional metal processors much easier, especially core drilling in metal structures which have already been assembled. The patented FEIN KBH 25 series complements the magnetic core drills and offers a cost-effective alternative to twist drills, as core drills only cut out a narrow ring and work around six times faster than a twist drill. The HSS pilot bit in the FEIN KBH 25 drills at 1600 rpm and only for as long as necessary. It is disconnected as soon as the core bit encounters the material, allowing all the feed force to be used for core drilling. The speed is automatically reduced to 520 rpm to deliver the optimum cutting speed for carbide core drills.

The FEIN KBH 25 also offers reliable performance on uneven and non-magnetic metals such as stainless steel and aluminium. It does not require a minimum material thickness and with its compact shape and weight of just 3.3 kg, it can handle core drilling tasks even in difficult-to-reach spots.

The new generation of the KBH 25 series was developed in close collaboration with users. The FEIN KBH 25 S works up to 30% faster than its predecessor, the KBH 25. With speeds of up to 1600 rpm, centring is now approximately three times faster than before. The new FEIN KBH 25-2 U also features a mechanical two-speed gearbox. The speed can be manually adjusted to the task in hand with a switch, making the changeover between core and twist drilling quick and easy. This makes the FEIN KBH 25-2 U the ideal assembly tool on the construction site for efficient core and twist drilling in metal. Metal constructors will find that the systems covers a wide range of applications: core drilling, hole sawing, twist drilling, tapping and countersinking. Six speed settings and a torque slipping clutch make it possible to use hole saws up to 80 mm in diameter. The tool can be changed in a matter of seconds without the need for tools: one click and the tool is perfectly secured.
