High tech with manual touch & feel

Föhrenbach presents CNC precision machines for the watchmaking industry at the EPHJ Show in Geneva

Watchmakers think in micrometres, but also in milliseconds. The reason: Competitive watch production requires both utmost precision and maximum productivity. The CNC surface treatment machines for the watchmaking industry by Föhrenbach completely meet these requirements. The company will present the latest models on the basis of the décor machine F-Decor 305 at the 16th EPHJ Show from 20 to 23 June 2017 in the PALEXPO in Geneva.

Professional visitors can convince themselves of the performance of the F-Decor 305 by means of two current exhibits on Stand L132 . A machine variant for circular graining and a variant for the côtes de Genève grinding are shown. One model will be equipped with an automatic loading system and both models have a user interface for the integrated touch panel - and the user interface was completely revised by Föhrenbach. Thierry Torrent, Sales Manager for Switzerland at Föhrenbach, describes the concept of these machining centres which are precisely tailored to the needs of the watchmaking industry: “We know the extremely high productivity demands of the watchmaking industry very well. We exhaust the CNC technology, the operation and the peripheral handling components as far as technically possible in order to optimise both machining speed and quality at the same time. Using sophisticated control processes, the workpieces also get an individually manual look. In this way, we help the tradition-steeped school of exquisite watchmaking art to maintain its competitiveness.”

Flexible all-rounder for surface treatment

The F-Decor 305 is a flexible and compact table machine with up to five interpolating CNC axes. It was designed for typical surface treatment processes of the watchmaking industry such as the production of perlage, côtes de Genève, Soleillage, Collimaconage, engravings and decorative millings. A special feature is the grinding pressure which is continuously variable within individual perlage. Due to this grinding pressure, the decors can no longer be distinguished from a manual production.

The large tool magazine saves valuable machining time. For highest productivity demands, the F-Decor 305 is also available with double-spindle design. With a double spindle, the machining times are reduced by half.
