No product slippage: new series 5 and 11 modular belt types offer good grip and reliable conveying

Hanover, September 2016 –Forbo Movement Systems’ Prolink system now consists of 12 series, used for diverse conveying and processing jobs. New flights have now been developed for two curved belts in these series, series 11 and 5. One type is ideal for tough industrial conditions and the other conveys highly sensitive products efficiently and reliably.

With its small curve radii, series 11 is perfect when space is at a premium. Series 5 is a particularly strong and versatile curved belt with stainless steel hinge pins and a large open area. With Friction top 1 (FRT1) pads, both series have raised, 3.2mm thick studs as new variants. The belts are ideal options for inclined conveying. The studs guarantee good grip and prevent products from slipping. The FRT1 material has shore A hardness of 86 and is hard-wearing, making it a good choice for demanding industrial applications.

The Friction Top 2 (FRT2) pads come with a completely flat contact surface to the product. Using the friction pads in each row creates an almost totally closed surface, therefore helping to ensure the products conveyed don’t topple over. Very sensitive products are conveyed carefully and dependably. The FRT2 surface is highly recommended when products with large contact areas are to be conveyed on curved belts.

Another benefit: reverse guided option for series 5

OEMs welcome the new reverse guided variant for series 5 because it facilitates conveyor design. Combined with the exceptional strength of series 5, which is achieved thanks to the 5mm thick stainless steel hinge pins, a simple and cost-efficient framework structure consisting of just a few components is possible. Especially in the case of belts running in parallel, a steel frame and a wear strip aren’t required without comprising on reliability.

Series 5 is in blue and white. Materials available include polyethylene (PE), polyacetal (POM-CR) and polypropylene (PP). Series 11 comes in blue and white in polyacetal (POM-CR), polypropylene (PP) and blue polyamide (PA) – and POM-CR is particularly resistant to incisions and any impact.
