Ball & Beam system
Ball & Beam system is one of the important experiment devices for undergraduate and graduate students. As larger rotary torque is required for the system, either the motor will generate a lot of heat or the size will be too bulky if DC servo motor is used to drive the beam. In order to control the torque, generally “rotary servo motor + reducer” format is adopted in ball & beam system design.
Advanced DDR motor with direct drive format is adopted for the new Googoltech direct drive Ball & Beam System. The modeling is more accurate and reliable with the “reducer” of indirect drive control format removed. The modern design of the system can better stimulate the curiosity as well as learning passion of the students.
Advanced DDR motor is used and “reducer” is removed. The system structure is thus more concise and attractive. Students can better understand the action theory of the electromechanical system. Their innovation passion will also be stimulated.
Advanced industrial design concept is adopted so that the controlled ball object stands out in the field. The system is very secure and safe in use by restraining the ball object.
Students can implement PID, Root Locus and Frequency Response Method with the attached Matlab examples. They can feel the enchantment of automatic control technology.
When implementation of control algorithm in Matlab environment is completed, students can set up their own DSP, ARM, FPGA, MCU and other platforms for higher efficiency real-time control of the system.
