Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Hosts Successful Industry Forum

Experts Discuss Automation and Multisensor Technology at HxGN LOCAL Event in Wetzlar, Germany

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence welcomed over 150 metrology and manufacturing industry professionals to Wetzlar last week for its latest HxGN LOCAL event.

The two-day technical forum, focusing on the use of automation and multisensor technologies to drive productivity in manufacturing, ran from 28 to 29 September and featured a packed programme of keynote presentations, technical demonstrations and industry-focused discussions. For guests unable to attend, the event also featured live updates on Facebook.

In the Wednesday keynote, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence President and CEO Norbert Hanke looked at the untapped potential of data and explained why ‘manufacturing intelligence’ will play such an important role in implementing Industry 4.0 principles. He was followed by a morning of presentations featuring experts from Kuka Robotics, Perschmann Calibration and Zimmer & Kreim, who shared their visions for the future of manufacturing. In the afternoon, the Wetzlar demo centre was open for live technical demonstrations and workshops ahead of the evening’s gala dinner networking event.

Thursday’s sessions opened with a progressive keynote on adaptive production delivered by Professor Robert Schmitt from RWTH Aachen University. Attendees then took a deep-dive into manufacturing technology and process techniques with a series of sessions focused on efficiency savings, production accuracy and traceability.

“Our visitors had many opportunities to learn how they can increase productivity throughout the manufacturing chain, and I must thank all our guest speakers for their hugely valuable contributions,” said John Paulsen, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing EMEA at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. “This was a networking event where leaders and decision makers could exchange ideas and learn about new developments. We’ve had really positive feedback from our guests, which confirms that our vision of quality data solutions driving productivity and supporting smarter manufacturing is the right approach for our industry.”
