IEF-Werner at the Intec: Automation technology for more efficient processes

In order to increase their competitiveness, more and more manufacturing technology firms count on effective automation technologies. This is why IEF-Werner presents solutions at the Intec (7th to 10th of March, Leipzig), which allow high quality and at the same time efficient production; beginning with the automated adjustment unit to the palletiser system for the production in clean room conditions. IEF-Werner regards the different application demands of the clients as a challenge to realise innovative systems.

Furtwangen, 25th of January 2017 – Especially in microsystem and precision engineering the focus lies on handling small parts in the automation technology. The miniSPIN series with its compact and highly dynamical construction was developed exactly therefore. It is used in tasks which are typically called pick & place. It can reach a total cycle time of under 250 milliseconds with parts weighing up to 20 grams. The basic principle of the handling unit is based on the rotating lever arm. In order to allow the optimal application of the miniSPIN series, different lever arm lengths are available according to the scope of application. The sleeve, attached to the end of the arm, is able to orientate the picked up part as needed or hold it vertically through its independent turning movements. The use of a suction or pneumatical parallel gripper is possible, as vacuum as well as pressure air continuously available.

Because of their high precision, direct drives are not only used in handling and assembly technology but also for measuring and test tasks. On their exhibition booth, IEF-Werner GmbH presents direct drives which work very fast and yet precise: the euroLINE series. The units combine a linear motor as well as a path measuring system in a space saving and at the same time stiff guidance. The user receives a system ready for mounting, which requires only little effort in construction and assembly. Several independent slides may be mounted on the guidance. This is how the systems can be constructed and installed in a space saving way. Here again the demands of the client concerning the specific application may be realised through different slide variants and stroke sizes.

At the Intec IEF-Werner additionally presents the manual adjustment unit domiLINE. Countless variants of flexible devices can be created with this modular system. The advantages of the spindle driven components come into play especially during frequent adjustments and fine-tuning. The more common retrofitting and reconfiguration works can be supported by the use of a new bus interface. With that, the units get the ability to remember their own positions. IEF-Werner simplifies the work with frequently changing positions – for example when adjusting measuring cameras, focussing burner nozzles or changing sensors. This contributes to the operating comfort as well as to the increase of process security and results in a directly measurable benefit.

The increasing demands on product and functionality determine often also adaptions of production and assembly. Next to the areas of electronics and microsystem technology, clients are confronted with the demands of a purity suitable production also in classical mechanical engineering. The production requires the use of high precision processes on largely automated plants. IEF-Werner developed especially for this production environment varioSTACK CF “Clean Factory”, a very compact palletiser concept, based on the proven varioSTACK palletiser. Herewith the handling of the trays can be conducted correspondingly with low contamination.
