Packaging Leak Solutions for Food and Pharmaceutical Industries

Labthink exhibited at Chinaplas 2017

Labthink exhibited at Chinaplas 2017 and displayed a set of seal integrity testing solutions for packaging of food and medicine, as it is known that the seal performance of the packaging may greatly influence the quality and safety of food and medicine.

MFY-01 Leak Tester and LSSD-01 Leak and Seal Strength Detector were exhibited as instruments for quantitative determination of seal integrity of packages. MFY-01 Leak Tester uses negative pressure method, which conforms to ASTM D3078 and GB/T 15171, can be used for nondestructive testing of leak points of packages. LSSD-01 Leak and Seal Strength Detector uses positive pressure method, which can be used for quantitative determination of the heat seal strength of sealing edges, burst pressure of packaging bags and seal performance of packages. With test accessories, the instrument can be used in seal performance tests of pilfer-proof closures, soft tubes and other materials.

As for the problems with seal integrity which are caused by unqualified sealing edges, the users can simulate the sealing process by defining sealing temperature, sealing pressure and dwell time on HST-H3 Heat Seal Tester and eventually determine the optimal sealing parameters for the packaging materials to be tested.

Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and vacuum packaging are usually used for those food and medicine products which are sensitive to oxygen. With portable-designed CLASSIC 650 Headspace Gas Analyzer embedded with high-precision sensors, the users can monitor the content of oxygen inside the package at any time.

In CHINAPLAS 2017, Labthink also exhibited testing instruments for determination of barrier property, thickness, tensile property, impact resistance, coefficient of friction, migration and non-volatile substances, etc.
