Sky high – Fast detection of total organic carbon peak loads

LAR''s online total organic carbon analyser QuickTOCultra uses the ultra high temperature combustion method. At the temperature of 1200°C, the samples'' compounds – no matter whether the organics are in a dissolved, mixed, oily, particulate or volatile state – are completely oxidized. There is no sample preparation necessary such as filtration or dilution. As a result, operators save expenses for sample conditioning systems and oxidation promoting catalysts. Downstream of the oven, the CO2 gas formed is measured by a NDIR detector, which determines the TOC content. The analysers'' innovative design enables the measurement of total organic carbon in water in less than 3 minutes. In the case of an exceeding of alarm threshold, operators may rapidly take countermeasures such as redirection of highly contaminated water streams to buffer tanks for peak shaving. The QuickTOCultra is able to measure up to six sample streams. Thus, operators save expenses for several TOC analysers.
