PET-Bottle Recycling –Recovering of Valuable Raw Materials

In order to reuse waste PET-bottles they have to be recycled or respectively shredded. For this application, the PALLMANN UltraGranulator® „PANTHER“ is the foremost choice. The single PET-bottles are continuously fed into the cutting chamber by means of a conveyor belt. Massive, angled rotor knives work with a very close tolerance cutting gap against opposing slanted counter knives and cut the bottles into flakes. The special rotor with a real slant cut reduces the energy required to a minimum. In the lower part of the housing, a well dimensioned screen is installed which holds the PET-flakes in the cutting chamber until they are discharged through the screen holes. The mesh size of the screen can be selected and determines the size of the flakes and the throughput rate of the granulator. Throughput rates up to 3.5 t/h are possible with a flake size of approximately 14 mm and the corresponding machine size.

The end product is pneumatically suctioned and transported into a cleaning system where the PET-flakes are separated from the PE which is still contained in the bottle caps. The secondary raw materials so-produced are exceptionally versatile. They are often reused for the production of PET-bottles. Alternatively they can be utilized for carpet or textile production. The „PANTHER“ is a heavy duty and compactly built machine which is designed for the special requirements of modern recycling operations That contains among others the excellent accessibility into the cutting chamber for cleaning purposes and wear parts exchange. The rotor- and stator knives can be re-sharpened many times and adjusted from the outside. Even the screens are reversible for usage of both sides. The “PANTHER” complies with the newest machine guidelines for operator''s safety. Around-the-clock operation, seven days a week under roughest conditions is the homeland of the UltraGranulator® „PANTHER“. The granulator can be integrated into existing recycling lines or used as a single machine without a problem. PALLMANN, as a system supplier, also delivers, if desired, the sorting system for the separation of the different secondary raw materials.
