New series of high-precision current sensors

Pewatron AG is launching the latest series of precision current sensors of the KIFHY-1 series. They are built in a fully insulated structure and are designed for mounting on printed circuit boards.

They are built in a fully insulated structure and are designed for mounting on printed circuit boards.

With their unipolar supply voltage, the sensors are suitable for measuring DC, AC and pulse currents.

Four sensors from 6 to 50 A

The KIFHY-1 series consists of four sensors with a rated primary current of 6, 15, 25 and 50 amperes at a maximum applicable current of 20, 51, 85 and 150 amperes. The power consumption is 25, 30, 35 and 55 mA.

The housing is made of UL94V-0 rated black polyamide and is particularly compact with its dimensions of 16.2 x 21.7 x 23.0 mm.

With a response time of only approximately 0.3 microseconds, the sensors are extremely responsive. They are equipped with a built-in standard voltage function; the application frequency range is DC to 300 kHz.

High measuring precision

The sensors operate with a supply voltage of 5 VDC ±5%. They have a reference voltage output of 625 mV at the rated primary current, with an accuracy of ±1.5 % including DC current offset; the linearity of the output is high with less than ±0.2 %.

The sensors are not particularly sensitive to magnetisation (less than ±2 mV), influences from the earth’s magnetic field (less than ±5 mV) and errors due to temperature drift (less than ±60 ppm/°C).

The operating temperature range of the sensors is between -40 °C and +105 °C at less than 85 % RH without condensation.

They do not contain any hazardous substances and are compliant with RoHS European environmental directives.

Multiple applications

The KIFYH-1 current sensors are a perfect solution mainly for UPS and SMPS power supplies. They are suitable for use in the drives of servo and DC motors, as well as in solar inverters and power supplies for welding machines.
