Panasonic’s Toughbook 54 is Designed for the Chaos of Healthcare Facilities

A certain gold colored computer may have stolen the spotlight this week, but when it comes to utilization in healthcare facilities, a more rugged system is often needed that can keep up with healthcare professionals on the go, survive coffee spills, and reliably capture and process patient data

Panasonic has released the Toughbook 54 to meet the needs of chaotic environments like healthcare facilities. Touted as “the world’s lightest and thinnest semi-rugged laptop in its class,” the Toughbook 54 is both extremely durable and highly versatile, but isn’t so heavy and unwieldy that your doctors will need doctors for their arms and backs.

Consisting of a magnesium allow design with a built-in handle, the Toughbook 54 can withstand 3 foot drops on 26 faces. A spill-resistant keyboard, touchpad, hinges and display, port covers, and a design that makes disinfection easy means that the Toughbook 54 can take a beating from pretty much anything that’s thrown at it.

Inside, the computer has the newest generation Intel processors and graphics, a shock-mounted and heated hard drive, up to 11 hours of battery life, plus the option for a 2nd hot-swappable battery, and a whole slew of connectivity options, including GPS, 4G LTE mobile broadband with satellite GPS, antenna pass-through, NFC, and the latest WiFi and Bluetooth standards.

Rounding out the system is a high-resolution display with glove-compatible touchscreen option, high-resolution webcam, powerful speakers, and Intel Wireless Display to assist with patient education.
