Made in Graphene

Will graphene be the miracle material of the 21st century?

Graphene is a one-atom-thick layer of carbon with remarkable physical and electrical properties. Super-thin, super-strong, super-sensitive and super-conductive, it is already found in vehicle energy recovery systems and electronic devices. Its particular electrical characteristics boost efficiency, reduce energy lost as heat and increase energy density. Current or near-future uses include spacecraft components, light- and pressure-based medical sensors, robotics, water purification and decontamination systems and an ultra-fast battery charger due to hit the market later this year. Other applications include puncture-resistant tires and high-tech tennis rackets.
