XD42 42-mm Swiss-Type Machine for Large Parts

The 42-mm (1.653”) machine with a guide bushing offers an additional alternative in producing some parts that were too large for a standard Swiss machine, especially the automotive industry.

Hanwha Machinery’s XD42 Swiss-type machine is especially useful for customers looking to produce large-diameter Swiss parts. The 42-mm (1.653”) machine with a guide bushing offers an additional alternative in producing some parts that were too large for a standard Swiss machine, especially the automotive industry.

Features of the new XD42 include stability structure of bearings and toggles on main and subspindles, strong chucking force by a large hydraulic cylinder as well as a high, rigid single-piece casting bed design.

The machine provides cost-effective parts production for heavy milling and cutting. The concept of a horizontal gang-type design offers a stable structured base and easy chip removal. Cross and back tools are available with ER20M as an option with a powerful motor (cross drill 2.2 kW, 8 Nm; back drill 1 kW, 3 Nm). Off-center drill next to the subspindle is powered by gears, not belts.

The Swiss-type machine offers the option of a bar lifting unit for the automatic loading and replenishing of heavy barstock, a huge convenience for the machine operator. Equipped with two anti-vibration units that is specially designed for the V-block (Hybrid Static Block) to guide the barstock efficiently. Other options include specialized tools, a chip conveyor with a large coolant tank that are compatible with the XD38II model. With customers’ convenience in mind, the XD42 is an efficient model for setting tools a short distance from the center of headstock.
