RECYCLED FILAMENT FOR 3D PRINTERS

Fila-Cycle Provides Eco-Friendly Printing Feedstock

Recycled filament and pellet feedstock is beginning to gain traction in the world of personal 3D printing. UK-based ObjectForm has brought out several different types of recycled feedstock via its Fila-Cycle brand. The feedstock on offer is 100 percent Recycled ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) Filament and pellets and 100 percent Recycled HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) Filament and pellets. The Fila-Cycle products are designed for Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printers.

By offering pellets ObjectForm is hitching itself to an upward trend, with a growing interest by personal 3D printer owners in processing their own plastics for extrusion. The ABS and HIPS feedstock is sourced “from waste automotive components and landfill stock”, apparently fridge doors are a good source of ABS. With the huge growth in personal 3D printers it would seem intelligent to use recycled feedstock in an effort to be more ecologically and energy friendly.
