The symbol of the power of a number 1 shipping company

Latest pride of the French fleet, the CMA CGM Jules Verne, with its impressive capacity (396 meters long and 54 meters wide, 16 000 TEU), is the largest container ship in the world. A memorable inauguration led by François Hollande, French President, took place on June 4th, 2013, in Marseille, deviating the container ship from its set route (French Asia Line 1). Not only is this giant unique in terms of massiveness and technical aspects, it is also equipped with all the latest environmental technologies (figures are 30% below the maximum standard required by the International Maritime Organization and already conform to the targets set by the IMO for 2025).Fun facts to impress you: the container ship is longer than 4 football pitches, longer than a 5.5 Airbus A380 aircraft and longer than the Empire State Building (381m without antennas) and the Eiffel Tower (324m) are high. Once more, its commitment to sustainable development, its efficient fleet and its will to constantly innovate maintain CMA CGM as the world’s third largest container shipping group, a key role gained since its creation 35 years ago. Named after the famous French writer, the ship perfectly embodies his philosophy: “Nothing great is achieved without inflated expectations.”
