WORLD’S HIGHEST PEAK-POWER LASER DIODE ARRAYS DEPLOYED

World's Most Powerful Diode Arrays Installed by Lawrence Livermore

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has installed the world’s highest peak power laser diode arrays, which can develop a massive 3.2 million watts of power. The laser diode arrays are a key part of the High-Repetition-Rate Advanced Petawatt Laser System (HAPLS) currently being built at the LLNL which is designed to generate an output of more than 1 quadrillion watts (1 petawatt, 1015 watts). HAPLS is expected to be installed in the European Union’s Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) Beamlines facility sometime in 2017.
