GOOGLE GLASS RIVALS COMING UP ON THE OUTSIDE

Rivals Don't Quite Have the Same Buzz, But May Yet Surprise Google

Google Glass has been the talk of the town for a quite awhile now, but rival tech firms are beginning to join the market with their own versions of the smartglasse. In addition, there is talk that other big players such as Samsung and Lenovo are developing prototype smartglasses to join in the race. With the battle to own the early ground heating up, it’s becoming more difficult to come up with punchy product names that create a buzz.

ChipSip SiMEye

Taiwanese company ChipSip launched it’s rival to Google Glass the SiMEye (pronounced see me) during the summer. With a targeted retail price of USD$ 500 (EUR 395) it is a lower-cost alternative to most of the other products on the market. “ChipSip touts its ability to download Android apps direct from Google’s Play Store via SiMEye’s user interface”, whereas Glass forces you to download an app through another Android device before you can upload it to the eyewear. The SiMEye can also record video in 1080p, which is four times the resolution of its adversary.
