The concept of the Factories of the Future/Industry 4.0 has been discussed a lot over recent years, for some people even too much. But, occasionally a new idea or presentation will appear and spark a renewed interest on the subject. We were very captivated by Airbus’ video presentation on what could be its future plane-building facility. Airbus’ vision involves a facility with high levels of automation, innovative technologies, automated ground-based logistics and cobots controlled by augmented reality. With a planned completion date of 2025 it will be interesting to see how the facility finishes out in the end.
