Inserts Improve Repeatability and Reduce Cycle Time
With two different inserts per part feature, the ThirftTurn tool is adjustable individually and as a whole. There’s no need to reset size, diameter and lengths.
Peterson Tool Co.’s ThirftTurn and ThriftPoint inserts are designed for improved repeatability and reduce cycle time. With two different inserts per part feature, the ThirftTurn tool is adjustable individually and as a whole. There’s no need to reset size, diameter and lengths. All dimensions are locked in, allowing the user to make small, pointed parts that have large length-to-diameter ratios. The tool allows for micro-adjustments and quick insert changes, which reduce downtime.
Both tools are especially useful for CNC machining centers, Swiss, Hydromat, multi-spindle, single-spindle and custom machines.
Designed within a 12-micron tolerance, the attachments boost efficiency by generating more parts per hour. Easy to use and simple to set up, they eliminate the need for multiple offsets and complicated programming, the company says. And since most inserts can be replaced without removing the holder, operators can spend more time making parts than replacing tools.
