WORLD’S FASTEST ELEVATOR IS IN CHINA

Hitachi's building it!

Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre in China is a 530m tall mixed-use tower and podium. The tower will house 208,000sm of office, 75,000sm of residential, and 46,000sm of hotel program. A stepped podium with spiraling roof terraces will house hotel function as well as 47,000sm of retail, restaurant and cinema program.

The building will stand not only as a symbol of Guangzhou’s ever-growing economic and social prosperity, but also of its ambitious green agenda.

This building will soon have a one-of a-kind lift: the fastest in the world. It will take 43 seconds to go from the first to 95th floor! They will deliver the world’s fastest ultra-high-speed elevators at a speed of 1,200 m/min (72 km/h).

The lifts will prevent ear blockages, Hitachi said, by artificially altering air pressure in the lift cage, a comfortable ride indeed.

Comparitively, the tallest building in Western Europe, the London’s Shard, has lifts that move at only 360m per minute!
