UARM – AN OPEN SOURCE, AFFORDABLE ROBOTIC ARMS

Because everyone should have a robotic arm in their kitchen

The robotic arm is moving beyond the factory floor and is now found in unexpected places, like for instance, on a kitchen counter. We are of course not talking about ABB’s or KUKA’s enormous beasts, but the open source, affordable and miniature robotic uArm.

Essentially a miniaturized version of the ABB PalletPack IRB460, the 4-axis parallel-mechanism robot arm runs on RC hobby servos and is controlled by a Arduino-compatible board. UFactory is the self-described “group of robot maniacs” behind U-Arm with the ultimate goal of making robotics kits widely available and to spread robotic joy.

By scaling down cost and size, UFactory has created a logical fit for schools and an accesible maker-project for robot maniacs, both young and old.
