Ingenia Motion Control delivers new solutions for servo drives systems with EtherCAT technology

Ingenia Motion Control has complemented its family of servo drives and adds a new hardware plug-in module for EtherCAT

The new module incorporates a powerful Slave interface providing instant connectivity to EtherCAT networks. The EtherCAT module has already proven its full interoperability with EtherCAT Masters from Beckhoff and others.

The new hardware add-on can operates as a standard EtherCAT drive that accepts the CAN application protocol over EtherCAT (CoE). The module provides a 2-port 100 Mbit/s interface with standard RJ45 connectors. This allows installations with simple low cost line topologies. No stack-on option modules or intermediary gateways are needed. The CoE implementation also offers a cleaner migration path from CAN machine networks to higher performing EtherCAT networks.

Typically, EtherCAT systems have been on larger multi-axis-machines. Ingenia makes now available this technology for smaller systems and table top machines like medical equipment, lab automation, small mobile robots or integrated servo actuators, where space is critical and the strength of EtherCAT synchronization is a premium.

EtherCAT technology will be available for both commercial product and customized solutions for OEMs.

Why we offer EtherCAT?

Precise synchronization (< 1 µS) can be achieved between slaves

True distributed motion control

Multi-axis positioning with real-time networking

Wide acceptance in IT and manufacturing

Deterministic network

Global open-network with more than 1,300 members

In addition to EtherCAT®, Ingenia currently supports CANopen® and stand-alone mode through different command sources or running user programs developed with MotionLab configuration and programming tool.
