TOUR DE FORD: NEW CONCEPT BIKE IS A WINNER

Ford's Fully-Connected MoDe: Flex Provides Safety and Versatility

It’s that time of year again, when the amateurs dust off their spandex and cleats and get back up on their bike and the pros on the Tour de France put their bodies through absolute hell to achieve immortality on one of France’s greatest inventions. For those of us who sweat at the mere idea of taking on Le Mont Ventoux, Ford’s latest bike the MoDe: Flex will come in handy. The MoDe: Flex is the most advanced yet of Ford’s three bicycles. The fully-connected, foldable bike is designed to fit easily into Ford’s family of cars and it comes with some truly useful features. A feature known as “no sweat mode” keeps track of your heart-rate therefore it knows how much electric pedal assistance to apply, so as you don’t break a sweat, perfect for that commute to work. When you want to test yourself on the weekend switch off “no sweat mode” and go hell for leather on the roads and hills.

The bike was created with safety in mind and is equipped with handlebars that vibrate when vehicles are about to pass you out and integrated LEDs that make you visible to other road users. Thankfully the bicycle can be recharged from a car outlet, leaving you to concentrate on the road home from your epic cycle. The angular two-wheeled machine has been designed as part of a larger initiative by Ford, called “Smart Mobility,” which focuses on advancing vehicle connectivity. All we want to know now is how much and how soon!
