Kodak x Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
Something’s Brewing
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery – “off-centered goodness for off-centered people” – pushes the boundaries of beer. They’re bold. They tell stories. They buck the mainstream and use unconventional ingredients.
Kodak and Dogfish Head Craft Brewing teamed up for an adventure with alternative processing, using the recently announced SuperEIGHT beer to develop KODAK Super 8 Film.
Inspired by Super 8 film stock and designed to be high in Vitamin C and more acidic – making it ideal for developing film – SuperEIGHT is a 5.3% ABV Gose beer made with:
prickly pear, mango, boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, kiwi juices, toasted quinoa
and an ample addition of red Hawaiian sea salt.
Beautiful Imperfection
Alternative processing isn’t about achieving the perfect image. It’s about experimentation. It’s about risk taking. It’s about getting hands on, interacting with the film and exploring new looks – just for the joy of it. Whether it’s coffee, wine or vodka, the beauty of alternative processing lies in the serendipity. And now you can find yours with our new SuperEIGHT craft beer.
The Results
Process your film with SuperEIGHT, and it’ll be like working with that film for the first time. It’s the iconic Super 8 aesthetic, amplified. More texture, more grain, more emotion. Like footage from the dawn of movie-making, made unique with 21st century subjects. Perfect imperfections – for those seeking moving image with more soul.
Dogfish Head Results
“I love it all. For me, the purpose of hand processing and eco-processing is not to duplicate the look of lab processing; if I want that, I might as well send it to the lab! It’s to push the boundaries of what film can be in new directions. To really embrace the weird and the wonderful.”
