S-Band Amplifier Delivers 400 W

A pulsed GaN power amplifier developed by Advantech Wireless is rated for 400 W output power from 2.9 to 3.1 GHz.

Model APRA-S4000A is a pulsed solid-state amplifier for S-band applications. Based on GaN semiconductor technology, it provides more than 400 W output power from 2.9 to 3.1 GHz at duty cycles as long as 20%. The amplifier achieves rated output power with 0-dBm input power and achieves less than 0.8-dB pulse droop, with fast rise/fall times of better than 75 ns. Harmonics are typically −60 dBc while spurious levels are −65 dBc.

The amplifier has 50-Ω input and output ports and works with pulse widths of 0.1 to 100 us. It’s designed for 180 to 264 V ac and consumes 600 W power at 20% duty cycle.
