SANY signs MOU with Gujarat government for further wind power cooperation in India

On Nov 28, Liang Wengen, SANY Group Chairman, signed MOU with the Gujarat government to expand cooperation of wind resource development and wind turbine manufacturing.

On Nov 28, Liang Wengen, SANY Group Chairman, visited Gujarat State of India and signed MOU with the Gujarat government to expand cooperation of wind resource development and wind turbine manufacturing.

As part of cooperation plan with India, SANY is planning to invest 3 billion USD in India in the forthcoming five years to build 2,000 MW wind farms which would generate 480 million kWh of electricity each year and meet the annual power demand of about 2 million people.

Until now, SANY has owned 4,000 MW wind resource in India, half of which is under test, and is negotiating acquisition of multiple wind farms.

SANY’s active efforts in Indian wind power industry comply with the India government’s 2012-2017 year plan of the total installed capacity reaching 15,000 MW. Driven by the national economy and favorable policies, India has become the fastest-growing country of wind power in Asia and the most potential market worldwide.

To echo Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative, SANY will build wind turbines in India and make it the global wind power manufacture center outside China. On Nov 23, 2016, SANY established its wind power company in India, and will complete the first 2 MW wind turbine assembly line by the year end.
