Intelligent gripping systems for smart production – HMI 2017

“Over the next five years, industrial gripping will be reinvented,“ emphasized Dr. Markus Klaiber, Technical Director/CTO at SCHUNK, in advance of the Hannover Messe 2017.

“For implementing the scenarios of Industry 4.0, the human/robot collaboration, and the service and assistance robotics, need intelligent, sensitive, and highly-networked gripping systems, which independently recognize the workpieces, permanently detect the surrounding, autonomously approach, and which ensure process-reliable and safe handling in the case of an increased parts variation,“ explained the product specialist. SCHUNK, as a leading supplier for components and modules for equipping robots and production machines, showcases numerous live applications at the Hannover Messe 2017. Alone in the field of human/robot collaboration, SCHUNK provides six different SCHUNK Co-act demo units, which impressively demonstrate the potentials of barrier-free cooperation between humans and robots in different industries. Under the brand name Co-act, SCHUNK combines its program of components for human/robot collaboration. The highlight is the intuitively controllable SCHUNK Co-act gripper JL1, which is equipped with a sensory aura. It is the world’s first, intelligent gripping module for human/robot collaboration, which is able to directly interact and to communicate with humans. Moreover, SCHUNK presents the 5-finger hand SCHUNK SVH: The world’s first gripper for collaborative robots, which received the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) certificate. It will set benchmarks at the HMI. You can expect these and further innovations and solutions in Hanover from April 24 to 28, 2017.
