3D printing service for additively manufactured mechanical engineering components

Additive production

Upload data, select material and quantity, send order – like with an online photo service, designers and systems planners at the SCHUNK 3D-Printservice can quickly and easily commission gripping system and clamping technology components for additive production. Whether it is adapter plates, devices, protective covers or function-integrated components: All parts are made of polyamide (PA 2201), aluminum (AlSi10Mg) or stainless steel (1.4404) in an excellent and precise quality. Following on from the success of the SCHUNK eGRIP, a 3D design tool for additively manufactured gripper fingers, the innovative family-owned company is further expanding its portfolio in the area of additively manufactured components with the 3D-Printservice. Now, components for gripping systems and clamping technology designed by the customer can be ordered online.

Integrated printability inspection

The browser-based SCHUNK 3D-Printservice grants users direct access to the world of 3D printing, without having to invest into such systems or expertise themselves. Within the briefest of periods, all conventional CAD formats can be uploaded, displayed in the 3D viewer and checked fully automatically for their printability. Areas that for instance are critical for additive production due to the material thickness are automatically marked as such. This means components can be purposefully optimized for production and the data uploaded. Suitable for the selected material, the system specifies the delivery date and the price of the component. This is determined on the basis of volume, i.e. small parts are less expensive than bigger ones. When placing orders, the data can be replaced at any time by new uploads or the material selection changed. All projects can be saved in order to be adjusted at a later time, or reordered. By means of an integrated approval and comment function, it is also possible to forward projects for instance to colleagues or purchasers for coordination for or ordering. The intuitively operated, HTML-based and browser-independent 3D-Printservice is useable on all PCs, smartphones, tablets, and other end devices that are connected to the internet. It is suitable for maximum dimensions of 160 mm x 120 mm x 100 mm. In case of any questions, trained 3D printing experts from the SCHUNK team can be consulted. The delivery time depending on the current ongoing orders is around ten working days.
