Dedicated remote access

Sinema Remote Connect V2.0 for improved machine security and simpler operation

Siemens has now released version V2.0 of its Sinema Remote Connect management platform for remote networks. The new Dedicated Device Access (DDA) function enables user-specific access to unique IP addresses in the subnetwork. This allows individual machines to be selectively controlled over VPN (Virtual Private Network). Also new: an optimized, exceptionally intuitive, clearly arranged and customizable user interface for outstanding handling convenience. With the aid of DDA, user-specific access rights for dedicated end devices in the subnetwork can be configured and stored within the scope of roles and rights management of the Sinema Remote Connect server. This makes it possible to determine precisely which user is entitled to access which IP addresses behind the relevant VPN end point (e. g. industrial routers Scalance M-800). This reduces the incidence of operating errors due to remote accessing by unauthorized personnel. All the approved connections including IP addresses and devices names are clearly arranged in the Sinema RC Client for the respective user, meaning that each individual machine within the subnet can be uniquely identified. Thereby the connection set-up to the machine becomes even faster and more comfortable. Siemens has also used Version 2.0 to optimize the user interface of the Sinema Remote Connect server and client. New scope for customization such as showing, hiding or individually repositioning individual columns in the client helps create greater clarity. The customized settings are stored in the user profile.
