SKF offers new series of induction heaters for solid components

Gothenburg, 27, July 2015: SKF today announced the introduction of the SKF Induction Heater TIH L MB series, comprised of three different models in various voltage versions. Designed specifically for use in non-bearing applications, these induction heaters are suitable for heating solid workpieces such as rings, sleeves, gears, couplings, bushings, pulleys, train wheels and similar components.

Featuring one magnetic coil in the centre, the powerful TIH L MB series heater concentrates the heat in the workpiece bore for superior performance on solid components. These durable heaters utilize a remote control and power-level selection for simple and safe operation, and the sliding yoke enables easy installation of large workpieces. The TIH L MB series delivers maximum heating performance with low energy consumption. The automatic demagnetization feature reduces the risk of ferrous debris contamination, helping to prevent damage to the shaft and workpiece.

These induction heaters are easy to transport using a standard forklift. Depending on the model, the TIH L MB series heats non-bearing workpieces weighing up to 600 kg (1,300 lb.) to a maximum temperature of 400 °C (750 °F). For bearing applications, SKF recommends the standard TIH L series.
