Development of a fully-automated compact warehouse for api

The recent order for the development of an individual compact pallet warehouse means that api is able to cope with the increasing requirements in this sector. "Our rapid business development means that we must also provide our customers with fast response times," says Achim Heyne, managing director of api Computerhandels GmbH, explaining the challenges faced by his company. "The warehouse optimisation concept of SMB International GmbH guarantees us high flexibility in cooperation with our partners and customers." The company has been supplying approximately 10,000 specialised and major customers as well as industrial companies in the IT sector for more than 20 years. There is another reason why the new warehouse must handle maximum requirements: a product range of some 45,000 products must find space in approximately 20,000 pallet storage places. The compact warehouse uses the dynamic "goods-to man" technology that employs a conveying system to move the goods from the storage place directly to the picker and back in order to ensure high-level order picking performance. The SMB compact warehouse can therefore handle 240 storage and retrieval processes per hour. The re-storage of partially used pallets during the provision of shipments is automatically handled.
