For process monitoring: Syslogic industrial PC with Apollo Lake processor

Embedded Systems with Atom x7-E3950 or x5-E3930 CPU

Syslogic upgrades right on time for the Embedded World trade fair. Its fanless Compact S industrial PCs are newly available with an Intel Atom x7-E3950 or x5-E3930 CPU (Apollo Lake-I). The industrial PCs have a long service life, low maintenance requirements and a high level of robustness.

The latest generation of industrial processors sets benchmarks

---

The new Intel Atom CPUs with 14nm technology boast better graphics and video performance than their predecessors. Their graphics functions have largely been adopted from the Core-i CPU series. The Apollo Lake processors support the common video encoding formats H.264, MPEG2, VC-1, WMV9, VP8, JPEG/MJPEG, H.265 VP9 and MVC. It further supports the virtualization functions VT-x and VT-d.

Raphael Binder, Product Manager at Syslogic, says: “The industrial Pcs with Apollo Lake processors are ideally suited for process monitoring tasks.” To this end, the industrial PC is coupled with an IP camera. Image data can be evaluated directly. A DVI-D interface is available for video output. Optionally, a display port can be added, which also allows you to carry out video monitoring tasks. A 2.5” solid state drive can be connected via an SATA-3 port for data logging.

High processing power at low power consumption

---

Not only do the Compact S industrial PCs come with a multitude of video functions, they also have very low power requirements. The dual-core processor (x5-E3930) has a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz at 6 watts, while the quad-core version (x7-E3950) has 2 GHz at 12 watts.

Like all Syslogic embedded systems, the Compact S industrial PCs are equipped with a passive cooling system. This makes them suitable for maintenance-free 24/7 operation in temperature ranges from -40 to +70 degrees Celsius. Thanks to their robust IP40 cases, the industrial computers can be operated in harsh conditions, too.

Security features for high reliability

---

Modern security features ensure a high level of reliability. The industrial computers are equipped with a hardware watchdog, which restarts the box PC after a power failure. They also have a temperature monitor. In addition, a cold cap supports the real-time clock (RTC) maintenance-free. Optionally, Syslogic integrates a NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory). This ensures the persistence of the data. This means that the data is preserved, even in the event of a power failure.

Flexible connectivity thanks to a unique interface assignment

The compact industrial PCs also score points for their versatile connection options. They have CAN, USB, RS232 and RS 485 interfaces, can be equipped with up to three Ethernet ports and expanded with WLAN, GPS, GSM and Bluetooth modules.
