New functional components in the FitSys 18 tool box:

Pressure relief valves and backflow preventer

The quick fitting system ‘FitSys 18‘allows the simple and cost effective creation of customer specific fluid systems for hot or cold applications, based on a broad range of standard connectors and solenoid valves. The toolbox includes a number of different couplings, adapters and special variants. These include reduced orifices and adjustable throttles. Now, pressure relief valves and backflow preventer as well as combinations of both functions are also offered.

The spring-loaded pressure relief valves are available for response pressures up to 16 bar. Typically, they are applied in the lower pressure regime around 4 bar for pressure relief of steam in vending machines. Applications in higher pressures, for example at 6 bar, are used in liquid applications such as the interception of pressure spikes, which may be caused by pumps. As standard variants straight through or T configuration are currently available, others are possible on request.

Also, the T type is offered as a combination of the relief valve and back flow preventer. For the safeguarding of media circuits, the back flow preventer is also available as straight through version with single function.

Currently these components have 4 or 6 mm push-fit connectors, all other connection combinations of the versatile FitSys 18 kit are possible. The new components are fully compatible with other FitSys 18 components (link) as well as with the compact valves of the valve series 18.00x (link).

‘FitSys 18’ is secured by ergonomically shaped release rings on the push fit fittings. Therefore, no tools are necessary during assembly. This is ideal for manufacturing but also saves time on site during service calls.

All plastic components of ‘FitSys 18’ are made from thermally resistant poly phenylene sulphone (PPSU). Thus, it can withstand temperatures for saturated steam of 143 °C (3 bar) without problem. The material is approved by KTW (hot water) and W270 (microbiology). NSF 169- and UL-approved variants of the FitSys 18 components as well as the corresponding steam valve series are available.

Using the FitSys 18 system, fluid paths and valve configurations in devices such as beverage and espresso machines as well as in chemical or pharmaceutical applications can be easily implemented in a confined space.
