UWT presents measuring technology for processes of the plastics processing industry

Synthetics in all their colors at Plastasia in New Delhi

The PLASTASIA 2017 in its sixth edition showcased the latest technology and machineries used in manufacturing of plastics and petrochemicals with participation from different parts of the world. During 8th – 11th July visitors could explore the most recent technologies and trends as well as a vast range of products and services related to the synthetic industry. At the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center in India’s capital city New Delhi the team of UWT Level Control India Pvt. Ltd. presented latest technology highlights for continuous and point level measurement at booth C-7 in hall 9 providing access to bright solutions for different applications.

Plastic plant operators are always looking for innovative solutions for their various measurement tasks in process containers. UWT offers a variety of high-quality sensors for the branch-specific applications of the synthetics industry: in storage, conveying and processing as well as in the production of plastic granules or powders.

In addition to demonstrating the proven product portfolio of level and level limit detectors two very new sensors were highlighted: The innovative radar sensor NivoRadar® 3000 and the compact vibrating rod Mononivo® 4000.

In particular, the new UWT radar was very popular with the solution of different measurement tasks in bulk material applications. The advanced non-contact sensor offers reliable installations in the area of continuous level measurement of bulk solids within silos, process vessels or open bunkers. The robust stainless steel construction makes the NivoRadar® NR 3000 extremely suitable for all kinds of industrial applications. The unit operates at a high frequency of 78 GHz. This delivers a very small beam angle of 4° which eliminates any signal interference at the flange but allows for optimum reflection of the bulk solids material.

You can measure distances up to 100 meters and the sensor can be used especially in very fine solids due to the high sensitivity. The radar device offers a flat flange version and also an aiming flange version. Using the adjustable aiming flange, the radar is perfectly aligned since the probe can be fixed to the desired point. In other words, the angle of the beam can be set to a specific point; for example, at the outlet of the silo. The lens antenna is highly resistant to material deposits and offers a self-clean function for extremely sticky solids using an air flush connection. Even within applications where condensation occurs, the flushing connection provides a functionally reliable measurement. The device uses a two-wire technology and is made simple to operate via a local programmer with display and a Quick Start Wizard. The unshielded radar sensor has a completely dustproof design and provides reliable measurement results in high process temperatures up to 200°C.

Through the live demonstrations of the sensors in different materials of different properties, shape, size and DK value (dielectric constant), an interesting exchange of experiences with plant operators and users of the industry took place.

A big thank you goes to all of our visitors for the interesting discussions and the great atmosphere that you have brought to our booth!
