TCO - Intelligent vacuum for optimal cost savings

Beside the investment costs for laboratory equipment it is also important to take a look at the energy consumption, the maintenance costs and the expected product lifetime. Personnel expenditure for handling the devices, reliability and therefore availability are also essential. The target is, to keep the cost of ownership as low as possible.

In this regard VACUUBRAND´s chemistry pumping unit PC 3001 VARIOpro sets the standard. With its outstanding features in vacuum generation and vacuum controlling, it is one of the best known instruments in laboratory. With an absolute vacuum of 2 mbar it is even suitable for high boiling solvents. Because of its outstanding performance features it is very often the preferred vacuum source for rotary evaporators. The unique automatic functionality with its tracking of the vapour pressure, extremely silent operation, small footprint and of course its renowned long service life, makes the PC 3001 VARIOpro a very popular choice for daily laboratory use.

The PC 3001 VARIOPRO can be combined with practically any rotary evaporator. The VARIO® functionality of the controller detects all of the vapour pressure changes and automatically adapts the pumping speed and the vacuum. The evaporation remains at an optimal rate and as a result reduces the processing time by more than 30% in comparison to conventional systems. The complete vacuum process is managed by the integrated controller “at the touch of a button” – no babysitting is required, leaving the user free to concentrate on further tasks at the same time. The easiest way to calculate the cost savings is to monitor the energy consumption. The energy efficient variable speed motor used in PC 3001 VARIOpro runs on demand in VARIO®-mode, so only when vacuum is needed.

The already extremely high diaphragm life time of the pump of approximately 15.000 working hours is increased considerably further by the automatic drive adaption of the motor. Typical laboratory use makes maintenance necessary only after some 5 to 7 years and therefore it can almost be neglected for cost analysis purposes.

The performance features of the PC 3001 VARIOPRO and its advantages in laboratory use far outweigh the moderately higher investment costs in comparison to conventional vacuum systems. Regarding the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), this pumping unit is exceptionally favorable and contributes actively to increased efficiency in everyday laboratory use.
