New! Bench Scales That Satisfy in Both Precision and Capacity – for an Affordable Price

The new “EK-L” series of precision bench scales includes two types of models for users to choose from depending on their intended use. Specifically, the EK-15KL, the “higher resolution” model, provides 0.1 g readability all the way to the capacity of 15 kg. This model is ideal for use where high precision is required for a wide measurement range, such as for measurements of precious metal blocks.

On the other hand, the EK-30KL, the “larger capacity” model, has the smart range function of 3 kg × 0.1 g and 30 kg × 1 g. That is, the scale interval switches from 0.1 g to 1 g when the display value exceeds 3 kg, but its precision range (3 kg × 0.1 g) can always be restored simply by performing tare.

The EK-30KL is especially useful when the gross weight exceeds 15 kg (the capacity of the EK-15KL), yet 0.1 g readability is necessary to measure the net weight. For example, it is possible to measure with precision the weights of ingredients while adding them into a heavy container, by taring the weight of the container before each ingredient is added.

To realize high precision with such large capacities without a significant increase in cost, A&D utilized their latest load cell weight sensing technology, which was originally developed for their EJ-123/303 compact precision balances (A&D''s first 1 mg balances using a load cell as the weight sensor) released last year. They also made the size of the weighing pan sufficiently large (300 × 210 mm) to enable efficient measurements of bulky objects or quantities.

Other features of the EK-L series include (1) hygienic and scratch-resistant, stainless steel (SUS430) weighing pan cover; (2) easy-to-read LCD display with clear, white backlight (22 mm character height); (3) multiple weighing units (g, kg, oz, lb, and ozt – tael can be added upon request); (4) functions such as counting, percent, comparator and display hold, making various kinds of tasks quicker and more accurate; (5) data output to a PC, printer, etc., via RS-232 interface; and (6) security ring for wire-locking the scale to prevent theft.

Operation is possible with either the provided AC adapter or optional rechargeable battery (approx. 15 hours of charging for 100 hours of operation with backlight off). An auto power OFF function is also available to avoid wasting power.
