Internet of Things in Bulk Material Handling Systems

AE Newsletter-Issue 01

The Internet of Things (IoT) describes physical objects, that are embedded with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks.

Basically, using the IoT technology the data has been collected using devices such as sensors, antennas, or microcontrollers. Then the collected data has been collated & transferred through the IoT gateway to the user interfaces such as smartphones, laptops, computers & human interface machines for analyzing the data & for taking necessary action with the collected data.

In this article let us have a look at how the IoT and Big Data can be applied in belt conveyor systems used in the Bulk Materials Handling and Transportation (BMHT) industry.
