The amixon® cone mixer combines two worlds: It can operate both continuously and in batch mode. This allows a single system to adapt perfectly to differing production requirements – from large-scale campaigns to frequently changing formulations.
Continuous Mixing Without Product Loss
In continuous operation, the cone mixer works with exceptional efficiency, as no product loss occurs at the start of the campaign. While the dosing systems first adjust to the mass flow of the main component, the mixing chamber remains closed. Only when each component is fed with the exact required proportion and all feeders run fully in sync does the actual mixing process begin.
This start-up strategy ensures that the campaign begins with perfectly mixed product from the very first kilogram – without waste or start-up material. During operation, an automatic level-control system keeps the powder level inside the mixing chamber constant, ensuring consistent mixing quality throughout the entire production process.
Batch Mixing for Complex Formulations and Small Quantities
For frequently changing products or sensitive specialty formulations, the same cone mixer can seamlessly be used in batch mode. Batches of up to 10 m³ can be homogenized in just about six minutes. Thanks to the conical design, identical, high mixing qualities are achieved even at filling levels as low as 20 % and up to 100 % – ideal for small production runs, development batches, or precise specialty recipes.
Near-Complete Discharge and Fast Cleaning
Regardless of the operating mode, a near-complete discharge (down to 0.001 %) ensures hygienic processes and prevents cross-contamination – especially important when products change frequently. Optional air nozzles remove remaining dust residues, and large inspection doors make visual checks and manual cleaning easy.
