Tackling tough matrices – TOC, TNb, and AOX

Reliable and smart solutions for organic sum parameter monitoring of industrial effluents

When: Thuesday, May 5, 2026 10:00 AM & 16:00 PM CEST
Duration: ~45 min
Language: English
Speakers:
Stefan Jezierski-Räcke, Industrymanager Environment
Bernd Bletzinger, Product Manager TOC

Industrial effluents often show highly variable compositions, influenced by production steps such as rinse cycles or batch processes. Laboratories must therefore respond quickly to changing loads while meeting strict regulatory requirements for direct or indirect discharge. Fast and robust analytical methods are essential to detect fluctuations early and ensure stable process control. Challenging matrices such as high salt content, particles, or interfering substances can push conventional methods to their limits.

Sum parameters like TOC, TNb, and AOX provide a reliable overview: TOC/TNb offer fast insight into the organic load and potential eutrophication risks, while AOX is key for monitoring toxic halogenated organics. This web seminar demonstrates how Analytik Jena addresses these challenges with powerful analytical solutions. Practical examples from petrochemical, paper, and salt processing industries show how our solutions deliver precise, compliant results even with complex samples. We will highlight the multi N/C x300 series for TOC/TNb analysis and the AOX workflow with APU sim and the multi X 2500, enabling efficient and reliable monitoring of industrial effluents and process streams.

Key learning objectives:
After the web seminar, you will have a clear understanding of the following aspects:

TOC/TNb determination in industrial effluents covering wide concentration ranges, high particle or high salt loades
AOX sample preparation and determination for industrial samples with high fibres, high particles, and high salt concentrations
Who should attend?

Laboratory managers and analytical specialists in environmental or industrial labs
Wastewater compliance managers
Local, regional, and national supervisory or regulatory bodies
Operators of municipal wastewater treatment plants
Consultants and engenieering companies (WWTPs)
