Safely moving 16-metre-long steel plates weighing up to 36 tonnes

For handling large-format steel plates, our client relies on a particularly powerful, bespoke solution: the EPM FB3-36T16 Magnetic Traverse. Two of these will be put into operation with immediate effect – either individually or, if necessary, together.

The dimensions of the steel plates to be transported are impressive:

- Workpiece length: 1,500–16,000 mm
- Workpiece width: 1,000–4,000 mm
- Sheet thickness: 20–120 mm
- Maximum load capacity: 36,000 kg

To meet a range of requirements, the magnet modules can be preselected in four stages. The spring-mounted arrangement of the permanent magnets, which are arranged in pairs, allows for the compensation of material irregularities. The system also offers additional functions during the handling process itself: the inching function enables the separation of sheet metal panels, whilst the integrated safety system prevents demagnetisation under load.
