Secrets for a long-lasting hardness tester
Maintenance and adjustment
I barely use it I don’t need any control!
I maintain it very well, what could happen?
As strong as they may seem, hardness testers are neither unbreakable nor eternal! Both the prolonged use and the state of inactivity can generate problems that if underestimated could compromise the reliability of the instrument in its use.
That is why international standards recommend regular maintenance and adjustment. Specifically, it is the second part of all ISO standards that outlines the timing.
In general, these two checks must be carried out every 12 months in compliance with the standards. However, the timing is shortened when the hardness tester is used frequently.
If these checks are not performed, the reliability and the quality of the hardness results won’t be accurate. To be frank, it’s not the best for instrument that should certify parameters of certainty on your production!
The requirement for a good use of your hardness tester over time is therefore to take care of it.
This is a care that cannot be improvised!
But, what is the difference between adjustment and maintenance?
