MTBE PRODUCTION

A big foreign project for the supply of MAG Process Gas Chromatographs for the analysis of feedstock, intermediates and commercial MTBE has been implemented.

Each device is installed in a block-box with explosion-proof heating, lightning and conditioning systems. In the cabinet is used an electric heating system with automatic air regulation designed to maintain a temperature at a level of 25 ± 5 ° C all year round. In the region where the analyzers will be operated, the temperature in the summer reaches +45 ° C, in the winter - below -30 ° C. Gas Chromatographs automatically determine the composition of:

- crude C4 (isobutene, n-butane) feeding into the reactor section;

- methanol, isobutene, MTBE during the reactor recycling;

- commercial MTBE;

- irrigation flow of the catalytic column (methanol, isobutene, butene-1).

The analysis cycle is 5 to 10 minutes.

To prevent the insertion of heavy hydrocarbons into chromatograph columns and detector a “backflush” function is provided. Management of GC operation, calculation of the component composition and physico-chemical parameters (PCP), data transmission in the upper level system are carried out with a built-in microcontroller with the installed “Analyzer” software with a possible duplicating of a standard PC. The devices also have a touch screen for monitoring analysis results just beside of the unit.
