A broad base for Industry 4.0: pressure measurement technology that communicates digitally

BD|SENSORS is expanding its portfolio in the field of electronic pressure measurement devices with a new product range that offers digital interfaces

In the wake of Industry 4.0, networking processes are gaining global importance. In this context, BD|SENSORS has expanded its portfolio in the field of electronic pressure and level measurement technology with a new product range offering digital interfaces. This new range is based on variants of the analogue pressure measurement technology that have been tried and tested in industrial use for decades. The range of devices with digital interfaces is correspondingly diverse and comes in versions with IO-Link, Modbus RTU and i2C. They are available in accuracy classes from 0.1% FSO and for nominal pressures of between 100 mbar and 600 bar, as well as in many mechanic and electric connections that are commonly-used in industry. Special attention is paid to the three hygienic versions that are tailored to the requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries.

In the field of pressure measurement technology in particular, BD|SENSORS offers a wide variety of products that take both network capability and prevalent communications standards into account.

- With IO-Link versions, the company is relying on powerful point-to-point communication whose global standard, central data storage and automated parameterisation are impressive.

- Products with the serial databus i²C have a classic master-slave architecture that offers fast communication and numerous configuration options such as units for pressure and temperature.

- The combination of an RS485 interface with the Modbus RTU communication protocol guarantees extremely reliable digital signal transmission with pressure transmitters and level probes, which has proved its worth even over long distances and as an open protocol is a reliable industry standard.

The technology company from Upper Franconia is thus acknowledging the trend that, in addition to analogue versions, products with digital interfaces are increasingly in demand. This is not surprising since they enable fast and transparent data communication, thereby creating entirely new options for controlling and monitoring industrial processes. This applies as much to construction and mechanical engineering as it does to applications in water management or the food and pharmaceutical industries.

In this context, users can rely on electronic pressure measurement devices at the usual quality offered by BD|SENSORS: High-grade materials and components contribute to a high degree of accuracy and signal stability. The modular structure also enables the devices to be adapted to the application’s requirements.
