BIAX develops an innovative modular deburring solution—the RSC Modular System

Automatic deburring solutions are attracting ever more fans, especially for long production runs. Other than in large deburring systems, user's now prefer pneumatic to electric spindles. Not only are the first much cheaper to acquire and repair, they are also lighter and more compact.
On the other hand, a change in application, for example because a part was discontinued and replaced by another, requires the purchase of a new spindle. This problem has now been solved, according to Schmid & Wezel GmbH & Co. KG, better known as BIAX. The Swabian family business has specialized in deburring solutions with pneumatic tools.
Right on time for Automatica, the main automation trade fair, BIAX is presenting a unique modular deburring system called RSC Modular System. It is composed of various components which can be combined in different ways, depending upon the application. These include oscillating tools, crossheads and various types of straight spindle inserts with speeds from 16,000 to 100,000 rpm. A complementary module, a sturdy radial mechanical deflection unit, can be added to compensate for component tolerances or positioning. All common connectors for robots and CNC machining centers are available.
Thus, the customer only pays for what is really needed. When the application changes, only the spindle insert must be changed. This makes possible cost savings of 80% and more. Even stocking costs will drop because only the spindle insert must be kept on hand. The innovative RSC Modular System will be presented at this June's Automatica in Munich (Hall 5A, Stand 509).
