BIG KAISER shows the future of fine boring at AMB

New capabilities and in-house electronics expertise keep BIG KAISER at the forefront of Industry 4.0 developments

Ruemlang, Switzerland – September 05, 2018 – BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions for the metalworking industries, will show its latest products at the International Exhibition for Metal Processing (AMB) in Stuttgart, in Hall 1, Booth A61.

The products on show will include the prototype of the EWA, an automatic fine boring tool. Compared to the Bluetooth boring head EWE, the EWA can work fully automatically without a human operator and enables extremely precise, fast and cost-effective fine boring. There is no need to stop the machine tool to take measurements and manually adjust the boring tool, which saves considerable time, and reduces expensive scrap due to human error is essentially mitigated. The EWA also features wireless connectivity to BIG KAISER’s user-friendly smartphone and tablet app for easier tool monitoring and configuration.

BIG KAISER will also show the Level Master WL, a 2-axis simultaneous leveler. It adds wireless connectivity to enable levelling information to be read from a separate display device up to 30m from the measuring point, thereby making it easier to ensure that a precision level is achieved. The detector supports an accuracy of up to 0.01mm/1m, and speeds up the previous tedious, error-prone levelling process for machine tools, which often required two people.

Also at AMB, visitors can see a prototype of the EWE 04-7, which is a new digital version of the world’s smallest fine boring head. This includes a wireless connection with BIG KAISER’s app, to help operators to determine optimal cutting parameters for their tool assemblies, and to display changes in cutting diameters.

Takuya Ichii, CEO at BIG KAISER, said, "BIG KAISER is continually innovating to bring new capabilities to our customers, helping them with improved accuracy, speed and ease of use. These latest products show how we apply our expertise in practice, to make sure BIG KAISER stays at the leading edge in fine boring."

The International Exhibition for Metal Processing (AMB) takes place in Stuttgart, Germany from 18th to 22nd September 2018. 1,500 exhibitors from more than 30 countries will show the latest machine and precision tool developments, and other machining solutions. In 2016, 90,000 visitors attended AMB, and this year’s show has added an extra exhibition hall.
